Associate Producer

Position Overview

Institute for Justice seeks a full‑time in‑house portrait photographer and documentary videographer (referred to as  Associate Producer  below) to join our award‑winning production team in the Washington, D.C. area.

Work individually and as part of a 2‑to‑3‑person team to plan, shoot, and edit photo and video content in our office’s studio or while traveling. Bring IJ’s photos and videos to tell our client’s stories and explain our cases to the public.

• 1-4 years of professional experience as an environmental portrait photographer, filmmaker documenting documentaries and/or other non‑narrative projects
• Experience working with tight deadlines
• A portfolio that demonstrates understanding of techniques for optimal lighting and composition in photo and video
• Familiarity with:
  • Professional cameras (Canon Cinema or similar)
  • Lighting and grip
  • Editing with Adobe Premiere and/or DaVinci Resolve
  • Drones (or willingness to become an FAA certified pilot)
• Practical on‑set experience is a must
• Ability to lift 50‑pound equipment bags
• Flexibility to travel, sometimes on a weekly basis
• Audio editing and post‑production color work experience is preferred but not required
