Overview
STGi is currently seeking a Dentist to provide medical consultation and case review evaluations on Workers' Compensation cases. The position is open to candidates nationwide and is fully remote.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide dental consultation and case review evaluations on Workers' Compensation cases, primarily for the Department of Labor (DOL) on Federal Employee Compensation Act cases.
- Complete training on DFEC policy, procedures, and regulations prior to performing case reviews and perform dental consultation in accordance with FOH policy and standard operating procedures.
- Support the dental and consultative needs for the Department of Labor (DOL) and other federal agencies (when requested) for workers' compensation programs.
- Evaluate workers' compensation case files, interpret dental reports, evaluate dental evidence and test results, translate technical dental language, and provide guidance to customer agencies regarding dental issues related to workers' compensation.
- Perform DOL FECA case reviews in accordance with DOL FECA regulations, including:
- Dental Review - Routine: review for routine dental authorization or opinion with written processing within 10 business days.
- Dental Review - Complex: review for complex issues with written opinion within 20 business days.
- Impairment Rating (Routine and Complex): impairment rating consultations with written opinion within 10 or 20 business days, respectively.
- Death Claim Review: evaluate dental information in death claims with written opinion within 10 business days.
- Expedited Review: expedited reviews for catastrophic dental injuries with written opinions within 3 business days.
- Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise in dental consultation for workers' compensation cases and communicates effectively in writing and verbally.
- Possesses strong knowledge of federal safety and health and workers' compensation regulations.
- Maintains professional conduct and provides expert dental advice to FOH and federal customer agencies on worker's compensation issues.
- Clinical: may conduct hands-on examinations (if privileged by FOH) and render professional opinions related to work clearances or recommendations aligned with examination findings.
- Procurement: submit monthly billing in the specified format and by deadlines.
- Staffing and Reporting: receive program direction from the FOH Medical Director.
- Technology: comply with DFEC program requirements regarding access to and use of DOL databases or applications containing confidential dental, medical and personal information.
- Active dental practice with a minimum of 240 hours of direct patient care per year to participate as a dental provider under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act.
- Expert understanding of Federal safety and health regulations and experience reviewing workers' compensation cases; broad knowledge of federal workers' compensation requirements desired.
- Experience working with organizations of varying sizes and backgrounds, including labor unions and management.
- Maintain current BLS certification if conducting direct patient evaluations.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Licensed dentist with D.D.S. or D.M.D. from a CODA-accredited program; board certification from the American Board of General Dentistry or a recognized specialty board preferred. Valid state license to practice dentistry without disciplinary actions.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in the specialty for workers' compensation reviews.
- Advanced training in Public Health desired with prior experience as a dental consultant for a federal agency.
