Global Signage & Wayfinding Designer Program Manager, Workplace Design & Construction (WD&C)
The Global Design team is looking for a creative, innovative, results‑oriented designer with experience leading the design of Signage and Wayfinding systems for corporate workplace. This role will be based in Arlington, VA, and will be responsible for supporting the Global Design Team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Design. The role will support design teams across three global regions (AMER, EMEA and APAC) and work closely with the Design & Construction (D&C) team, the Workplace Guidelines & Standards team and the Regional Portfolio Managers (RPM).
This role will manage, update and evolve the Signage and Wayfinding Design System for Corporate Workplace, including the development of new elements as needed to ensure standardization. The Designer will leverage the system and evolve it for regional or new requirements while ensuring high‑quality deliverables and on‑time delivery. Over time, the Designer will gain familiarity with Amazon’s global corporate workplace portfolio to ensure that elements of the signage and way finding system are applicable regionally.
The role will also collaborate with the Workplace Guidelines & Standards team and the Design & Construction Delivery teams but is not responsible for updating the guidelines or delivering final signage elements.
The successful candidate has experience designing signage and way finding for corporate workplace, deep knowledge of industry benchmarks, and the ability to evaluate potential solutions on aesthetic and budget grounds. The candidate will communicate clearly at all levels, dive into details, and design certain elements independently if required. The work environment is fast‑paced and ambiguous, and the role involves multiple projects with tight delivery timelines.
Attention to detail and the ability to inspect issues and processes, bringing simplified solutions to complex problems is paramount. The candidate must balance frugality with creativity and approach problem‑solving with an emphasis on root cause.
Travel may be required approximately 10% of the time.
Key job responsibilities- Maintain the Signage and Wayfinding Design System for Amazon’s Corporate Workplace, assessing design requirements of new requests, updating the design of individual elements, proposing root updates, and communicating design rationale.
- Collaborate with GREF partner teams—Regional Portfolio Management, Sustainability and Environmental Health and Safety, and Travel and Events—to ensure the system meets all requirements and improves Amazon workspace quality focusing on resiliency, efficiency, health, and safety.
- Connect to external industry, professional bodies, and communities to adopt new industry standards, best practices, technology, and innovations into the program.
The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) team provides real estate transaction expertise, business partnering, space and occupancy planning, capital investment program management, facility maintenance, and operations in more than 60 countries. GREF is organized into three pillars:
Regional Portfolio Management, Global Centers of Enablement, and Global Centers of Expertise. Workplace Design and Construction sits within the Global Centers of Excellence and includes the disciplines of Global Design, Workplace Guidelines, Business Development, Global Integrated Facilities Management, and regional Design and Construction delivery.
The Global Design team owns the design of GREF spaces, shaping concepts that align with GREF’s strategic vision and the GREF Workplace Design Style Guide while enhancing employee well‑being. The team’s Concept Designers develop foundational concepts for each space type—headcount floors, Centers of Energy, Food and Beverage, Meetings and Events, and other specialty spaces—in line with design principles. Regional Design Managers ensure that GREF design concepts and standards are integrated into new projects and renovations.
