Purpose & Scope
The physician is a member of the healthcare team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The scope of practice of each physician is defined through the health system’s credentialing and privileging committee.
The Physician supports objectives, budget, and performance metrics at the individual level.
Supports all medical activities at the individual level including implementation of quality control standards, risk management, and compliance programs.
The role of a physician is to provide quality clinical care to those individuals who have chosen VHC Health in a timely manner to meet the needs of our patients.
Education
Doctorate degree from an accredited medical school is required.
Experience
One Year Of Medical/surgical Experience Is Required.
Certification/Licensure
Licensed to Practice Medicine by the Virginia Department of Health Professions is required.

The role requires coping with mental and emotional stress, operating office machines safely, pushing patients on stretchers or wheelchairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, repetitive motions, finger dexterity, talking, visual acuity, and the ability to perform Basic Life Support if applicable.
Working Conditions
Works in well-lighted/ventilated office/clinical setting. Subject to frequent interruptions, long hours, changing shifts, and potential overtime or on-call work. Routine occupational exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, and musculoskeletal injuries. Use of PPE is required for exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious processes, supplied by the hospital. Involved with patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under various conditions, including hostile or emotionally upset individuals.
