Professional Days and Orientation:
July 1, 2, and 3 (3rd is ½ day);

Dorothy Hamm MS;
Model:
In-Person.

Responsibilities
  • Assist an individual student as a 1:1 or in groups of students with classroom activities and IEP goals under the guidance and direction of a teacher or assignment given by the Office of Special Education.
  • Assist with classroom and behavior management plans under teacher guidance and direction.
  • Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, student services staff, and families.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by teacher, site-administrator, or coordinator.
Experience
  • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • One year working with students who have disabilities.
Qualifications
  • Required: Graduation from high school or equivalent education; and 60 college credits from a regionally accredited college/university; or a qualifying score on the Para Pro (455 or better).
  • Preferred: Reliable, dependable, flexible, and punctual; flexible and willing to work as a team; knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities; ability to take initiative appropriately.

Salary and Status
  • Salary:
    Summer School Assistants who are APS employees during the year will be paid at an hourly rate of $16.68/hour or higher. Retired APS Assistants will be paid $25.68/hour. Non-APS Assistants will be paid $16.68/hour.
