Lead FPGA Design Engineer

Two Six Technologies is seeking a Lead Embedded Design Engineer (FPGA/ASIC) to join our Embedded Systems Division, where we architect and implement high-performance digital designs that underpin next-generation secure hardware systems. You’ll work alongside engineers deeply invested in RTL craftsmanship, building devices that must be fast, resilient, and hardened against real-world threats. If you enjoy solving hard hardware problems, shaping architectures, and seeing your designs come alive on silicon, this role offers a runway rich with technical challenge and impact.

• Drive the RTL design lifecycle end-to-end — from architecture discussions to implementation, verification, and synthesis across FPGA and ASIC targets.
• Lead development of secure hardware designs
  , ensuring robustness, reliability, and protection across the entire embedded stack.
• Own hardware bring-up and debug, turning prototypes into fully validated systems.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, and systems engineers to deliver integrated embedded solutions for mission-critical programs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, helping guide design decisions and best practices across the team.

• 7+ years of hands-on RTL design and verification experience using VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog, with a willingness to adopt System Verilog for modern flows.
• 7+ years of synthesis experience using tools such as Xilinx ISE/Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Microsemi Libero.
• 7+ years of simulation and verification experience using Xilinx XSim, Questa Sim/Model Sim, Synopsys VCS, or Cadence NCsim.
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain/maintain a polygraph.
• Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA.

• Deep proficiency in System Verilog, UVM, and modern verification methodologies.
• Experience with SoCs, place & route, timing closure, and hardware bring-up/debug.
• Familiarity with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
• Knowledge of common digital interfaces such as UART, USB, SPI/I2C, Ethernet, PCIe.
• Experience using Git or other version control systems.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development.
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, TCL, Makefiles).

• Active Secret Clearance with willingness to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
