Sr. Energy Strategy Manager, AWS Energy Team

Overview

Amazon is seeking a self‑starter to join the AWS Energy team in pioneering the future for data center utility power. This individual will define the end‑to‑end power strategy for scaling and operating AWS’s diverse, low‑cost energy supply and manage large‑scale, technically complex power infrastructure projects across multiple geographies.

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers in the AMER regions.
• Manage utilities, EPC and Owner’s Engineers to deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.
• Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc.) to reduce long‑term energy costs; manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy projects to meet business timelines.
• Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
• Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You will collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
• 7+ years working in the utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.
• 3+ years of power transaction or contracting experience in US East (PJM & MISO) energy markets, performing financial models and analysis on rates and energy cost, negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.
• 2+ years managing multiple million‑dollar power infrastructure contracts with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.

• Experience managing multiple projects in parallel through prioritization, planning, and task delegation.
• Experience in data centers, infrastructure service providers, or related technology companies.
• Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 34.5kV or greater energy infrastructure.
• Experience evaluating and implementing innovative infrastructure and operational strategies within the energy sector, such as energy storage, demand response, fuel cells, etc.
• Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy regulators.

The base pay for this position ranges from $133,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,100/year in our highest geographic market. Amazon is a total‑compensation company; equity, sign‑on payments and other benefits may be provided as part of a full‑range package.
