As a member of the Maximo team, you will pioneer advanced robotics systems to accelerate solar module installation. Maximo is an AI‑enabled robotic solution that expedites solar project construction, helping AES meet the growing demand for clean energy.
Job DescriptionAs a Robotics Hardware Engineer
, you will lead the development of advanced robotics systems and components for the Maximo platform. Your responsibilities include designing, developing, and integrating complex mechanical systems, as well as driving the technical roadmap aligned with the product vision.
- Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced robotic systems, including components, subsystems, and assemblies, ensuring high quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or detailed drawings and specifications for complex scopes.
- Translate product‑level requirements into subsystem, module, and component technical design criteria.
- Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis, including stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and motion analysis.
- Own the engineering release of subsystem designs, including CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
- Create design guides and documentation such as FMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack‑ups, and other requisite documents.
- Derive a technical plan from product and capability roadmaps to meet expected performance and specifications.
- Coordinate prototype build plans to evaluate design concepts through physical lab testing.
- Apply systems safety methodologies as defined by industry standards.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and control engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost‑effectiveness, and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in robotics and mechanical engineering to drive innovation and improve product performance.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in hardware design and development of robotic systems.
- Track record of successfully delivering complex robotic systems to market.
- Expert knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Creo, NX).
- Demonstrated ability through projects or research to contribute to the robotics field.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CE, FCC, UL), safety standards, risk assessment, and product definition.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multiple teams in a fast‑paced, technical environment.
- Excellent communication, can‑do attitude, and attention to detail.
- Technical understanding of automation, robotics, computer vision, machine learning, or AI is a plus.
