LocationThis job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates.
Job HighlightsThis is an on‑site role at our Baton Rouge, LA site location.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a wireless telecommunications project lead, you’ll design and provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings, including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi-Fi and Tower Studies.
- Perform preliminary assessments
- Create concept designs
- Lead designs with support from peers, SME’s, and BIM designers
- Resolve internal and external problems
- Produce drawings and specifications
- Ensure customer and vendor accessibility
- Design Wireless systems using iBwave and EDX
- Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages
- Coordinate with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and Carriers
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
- Conduct site visits
- Review technical documents
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio (outdoor LMR, Site Radio, and RoIP), Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS.
- Experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or an equivalent combination of modeling programs (minimum 5 years).
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communications needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks in design and installation.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPI’s, IBC, FCC Part 20/90, FCC OET Bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO, Motorola R56 standards, and DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- Excellent project‑management skills.
- Familiarity with responding to RFP’s.
- Experience creating a project budget and maintaining a project schedule.
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL certification.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE certification.
