Senior FPGA Development Engineer, Bespoke Solutions
Location:
Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. — Arlington, Virginia (HQ2) – U.S. Citizenship required. The role focuses on designing and integrating high‑speed FPGA solutions for AWS connectivity. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
- Develop custom RTL and integrate third‑party libraries for end‑to‑end 100G+ solutions.
- Collaborate with design and system engineers to perform trade‑offs and architect new solutions.
- Own the interface between software and hardware by developing drivers and providing software examples.
- Lead design meetings to plan development and review peer designs.
- Identify new opportunities and technologies to improve the customer experience.
- Debug RTL in simulation, synthesis, implementation, and on hardware targets; resolve issues across RTL, hardware, and software.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise in architectural discussions and strategic planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 7+ years of non‑internship professional RTL development experience.
- 3+ years developing programmable logic in VHDL or Verilog for FPGA SOCs.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of full RTL development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience with Xilinx Ultrascale+ FPG, Versal ACAPs, and/or Intel Agilex SOCs.
- Experience developing programmable logic for 100G networking systems.
- Current active U.S. Government Security Clearance Top Secret or above.
Required:
U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret clearance. Upon start, must obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or equivalent for each government agency involved.
Base salary:
Colorado $159,200 – $215,300 annually;
National $143,300 – $247,600 annually. Package includes sign‑on payments, RSUs, benefits, and equity.
