General Engineer – Full‑Time
Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a GS‑0801‑15 General Engineer to serve as Senior Lodging and Privatization Advisor at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA. The position is a term role not to exceed 36 months and supports the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Installations).
Pay and BenefitsBase Pay: $167,603 – $195,200 per year. PCS costs may be authorized. The role is term‑based with potential for continuing service.
Key Responsibilities- Advise the Deputy Assistant Secretary and senior Air Force leadership on all matters related to DAF housing programs, privatization efforts, and associated technical engineering principles.
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies, programs, procedures, and performance metrics for the full portfolio of housing initiatives, including military family housing, unaccompanied housing, senior officer/general officer quarters, privatized housing projects, leased housing, and BAH.
- Establish long‑range strategic vision, objectives, and enterprise‑wide plans for DAF housing, including privatized asset and recapitalization strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of existing programs, emerging requirements, laws/regulations, and best practices; formulate responsive policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight and final approval on the privatized housing program, monitor performance, ensure compliance with agreements/laws, and approve modifications as required.
- Coordinate with OSD, Joint Staff, and other services on emerging Congressional initiatives, policies, and strategic plans impacting military housing.
- Brief senior leadership, including the Secretary of the Air Force and DoD agencies, on housing issues, privatization oversight, and initiatives.
- Professional degree in engineering or equivalent Civil Engineering program with professional knowledge applicable to multi‑disciplinary duties.
- Professional clearance: must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short‑notice drug testing (TDP).
- Knowledge and experience in housing program management, privatization, real estate transactions, and construction standards.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills at the senior level.
