Patient Safety Technician Purpose & Scope
The Patient Safety Technician works under the direct supervision of the RN and is an active member of the health care team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Safety Technician performs a variety of routine duties to include feeding, dressing, or toileting; observing changes in the status of patients; maintaining the safety of patients who are confused, at high risk for falls, or require one‑to‑one observation;
providing a clean and safe environment; assisting with department tasks as needed; transporting patients; unit secretary tasks; and other related duties. Patient Safety Technicians must be empathetic and have good communication skills to care for patients.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
ExperienceExperience in Customer Service is Preferred.
Certification/LicensureBLS certification is required.
