We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our dynamic IR team. The IR Tech will assist interventional radiologists in performing minimally invasive, image‑guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This role involves operating sophisticated imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to high‑quality patient outcomes in a fast‑paced hospital or outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and operate imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, C‑arm, CT, ultrasound) during interventional procedures.
- Assist physicians by scrubbing in as a sterile team member, passing instruments, and manipulating equipment as needed.
- Position patients correctly for optimal imaging and procedural access.
- Monitor patient vital signs, administer contrast media or medications (as permitted by state regulations), and report any abnormalities.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure procedure room setup, including preparing trays, instruments, and supplies.
- Capture, process, and archive diagnostic images; document procedures in patient records (e.g., Epic/PACS systems).
- Provide patient education, explain procedures, and offer emotional support before, during, and after interventions.
- Perform post‑procedure care, such as applying pressure to access sites, removing catheters, or monitoring recovery.
- Ensure radiation safety protocols are followed for patients and staff.
- Participate in on‑call rotations for emergency procedures.
- Maintain inventory, clean equipment, and adhere to infection control standards.
- Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program. - Certifications:
- Registered Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), or equivalent (required or obtained within a specified timeframe).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred.
- Experience:
1–2 years in diagnostic radiology preferred; prior IR or special procedures experience a plus. - Licensure:
State licensure as required. - Skills:
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics, and sterile techniques; excellent communication and critical thinking abilities; ability to work in a team under pressure.
- Full‑time position with potential for on‑call, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Exposure to radiation, blood borne pathogens, and high‑stress situations; physical demands include standing for long periods and lifting equipment/patients.
