Residential Specialist - Substance Abuse

National Capital Treatment & Recovery—formerly known as Phoenix House—is a mission‑driven nonprofit organization providing comprehensive treatment for individuals affected by substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. We are currently hiring Residential Specialists to support our Coed Adult Residential Treatment Program located in Arlington, VA.

This 24‑bed Transitional Living Program offers structured, supportive housing for adults in early recovery. As a Residential Specialist, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment where residents can focus on their recovery journey. Your responsibilities include monitoring day‑to‑day activities in the facility, supporting clients during crises, enforcing program guidelines, and promoting a substance‑free, recovery‑oriented community. You will also have the opportunity to lead or assist with Life Skills coaching and 12‑Step education, helping residents build routines, accountability, and coping tools that are vital to long‑term success.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CSAC‑A, CAC, CSAC) required within 6 months of employment
• Minimum one year experience working in a substance abuse treatment setting preferred
• Knowledge of addiction treatment and of 12‑Step recovery process preferred
• Certification in First Aid and CPR, Medication Management a plus
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

$20‑$25 per hour, with opportunity to earn more based on experience, degrees, and other relevant qualifications.
