Summary:The Analyst, Family and Child Health provides direct support to projects related to child, adolescent, and school health. This position provides technical assistance to multi-sector jurisdictional teams on evidence-based and
-informed practices. The analyst supports the Leadership Exchange for Adolescent Health Promotion Plus (LEAHP+) Community of Practice and other projects on issues relating to child and adolescent health and cross-cutting projects (e.g. pediatric primary care, child nutrition, access to care, etc.).
Summary:
Leadership Exchange for Adolescent Health Promotion Plus (LEAHP+) Community of Practice (funded through CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health):
The purpose of the LEAHP+ Community of Practice is to support local and state education agencies and health departments to work together to improve health education, connection from schools to services, and safe and supportive school environments. This project aligns CDC’s What Works in Schools (WWIS) model into state-level action plans, with the goal of utilizing evidence-based practices in schools to improve adolescent health.
ASTHO offers ongoing technical assistance and facilitates peer-sharing opportunities, creating a Community of Practice of state and territorial teams to encourage collaboration, learning, and enhance outcomes.
Remote Anticipated salary : $67,800 Extended experience: up to $76,000 if experience exceeds expectations Principal Functions:
- Supports the Director, Family and Child Health in ensuring a coordinated presence and follow up on federally funded projects
- Assists in the development of ASTHO products such as reports, issue briefs, blogs, podcasts, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and webinars
- Assists in the design and development of virtual and in-person convenings
- Conducts, analyzes, and summarizes web-based research and original data collection with states and territories
- Collaborates across ASTHO on cross-cutting issues related to maternal and child health
- Responds to requests for assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations
- Participates in the evaluation of project activities and outcomes and other quality improvement initiatives sponsored by the organization
- Establishes and manages strategic relationships with national partners
- Assists in the development of project proposals and concept papers
- Represents ASTHO on national advisory committees and at meetings and conferences as requested
- Identifies opportunities for collaboration both internally across ASTHO teams, and externally by representing ASTHO at national/federal meetings, work groups, and committees
- MPH or related degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of prior related experience
- Knowledge of state or state and local public health, maternal and child health (specifically child and adolescent health) desirable
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of colleagues, funders and state and federal officials
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with public and internal contacts
- Knowledge of public health systems change at local, state, or federal levels desirable
- Ability to develop project outcome measures, track progress and evaluate outcomes
- Ability to effectively translate and disseminate information to various groups and audiences
- Ability to work with large networks and to represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences on public health-related issues
