SummaryThe Craft Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, screening, and recruiting skilled craft workers for various construction projects. S/he collaborates with hiring managers and business unit leaders to understand their staffing needs and create recruitment strategies and networking pipelines to attract qualified craft workers such as laborers, carpenters, finishers, operators, etc. The Craft Acquisition Specialist is responsible for conducting interviews, assessing candidates‘ technical skills and experience, and coordinating onboarding processes for new hires.
S/he also performs administrative functions related to recruiting.
The Craft Acquisition Specialist will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. - Attends career events—schools, military bases and local outreach sources
- Maintains school/instructor relationships at events, classroom presentations and career fairs
- Maintains a comprehensive black book of skilled construction craft workers
- Keeps detailed records
- Ensures up‑to‑date contact information for potential candidates
- Conducts outreach and builds relationships with industry professionals and organizations to create a pipeline of potential candidates
- Maintains relationships with future prospects
- Partners with the operations team to identify staffing needs and align recruiting strategies with project requirements and workforce demands
- Stays current with industry trends, salary benchmarks, and competitive hiring practices in the craft and trades sector
- Analyzes recruitment metrics and adjusts strategies to improve hiring effectiveness and efficiency
- Develops and executes recruitment strategies to attract top craft talent across various trades (e.g., laborers, carpenters, finishers, operators, etc.)
- Sources candidates through job boards, industry networks, social media, and local trade schools
- Monitors social media outlets for available candidates – reviews resumes received through applicant tracker
- Conducts pre‑screening interviews
- Provides recommendations to hiring managers and HR Talent Managers based on assessments and interview feedback
- Registers for career events and tracks pertinent information (career fairs visited, people interviewed and hired)
- Ensures that PowerPoint presentations are updated and applicable for event
- Ensures that there are enough supplies for various career events
- Sends follow‑up correspondence to candidates
- Coordinates travel/relocation arrangements
- Maintains a repository of resumes to be pulled from the Applicant Tracker as needed
- Assists HR Talent Manager on Baker‑sponsored recruiting events
- Ensures all recruitment practices comply with relevant labor laws and industry regulations
- Maintains accurate records of recruitment activities and provides regular reports to management on hiring progress and outcomes
