Overview

Praescient Analytics is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) and national security partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, machine learning, and software engineering, and will design & implement cutting‑edge solutions that transform complex datasets into actionable insights. This role requires both analytical acumen and technical creativity to solve real‑world intelligence and defense challenges through the power of AI.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning systems and predictive models to support mission‑driven analytics.
  • Study and refine data science prototypes, transforming them into production‑ready ML solutions.
  • Develop and optimize algorithms using supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning techniques.
  • Select appropriate datasets, data representation methods, and feature engineering strategies for each problem space.
  • Conduct data mining, statistical analysis, and model evaluation to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Perform testing, tuning, and retraining of models to improve predictive accuracy and robustness over time.
  • Utilize data‑oriented programming languages and visualization tools to translate raw data into meaningful insights.
  • Visualize and interpret data findings through dynamic dashboards, reports, and analytic visualizations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams and mission stakeholders to integrate AI/ML solutions into operational systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML models or data‑driven applications.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar data‑oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn).
  • Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature selection, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or custom dashboards.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field.
  • Experience supporting DoD, IC, or Federal programs.
  • Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, or reinforcement learning techniques.
  • Experience developing automated pipelines for ML model training and deployment.
  • Understanding of cloud‑based ML environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
