EY is seeking a Data Architecture Manager with a strong understanding of data and technology within the Life Sciences (Clinical (R&D) and Commercial) sector, complemented by a solid track record of delivery. This individual will spearhead the design, development, and governance of our clients’ data architectures, ensuring scalable, effective, and secure data solutions that align with business objectives and support data imperatives.

Key Responsibilities

Search:

  • Design and build scalable solutions for life sciences clients that unify, enrich, and derive insights from varied data sources across a broad technology landscape.
  • Guide clients through the complex world of modern data science, analytics, and software engineering.
  • Provide technical development and governance to ensure data science solutions are properly engineered and maintained.
  • Manage and deliver one or more processes, solutions, and projects, focusing on quality and effective risk management.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and recommend innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.
  • Apply expertise to guide others and interpret internal/external issues to recommend quality solutions.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data requirements, design solutions, and implement data strategies that align with client objectives.
  • Organize and lead workshops and design sessions with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and cross‑functional partners.
  • Design and build solutions on AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical layers of a data solution.
  • Conduct data design reviews, striving for improved usability and efficiency.
  • Design blueprints for data extraction and basic transformations.
  • Participate in presentations and proposals for highly complex projects.
  • Apply technical skills for integration with third‑party vendor SaaS applications, cloud computing architecture, and data architecture design and modernization.
  • Implement data integration best practices and develop standardized practices for delivering new products and capabilities using Big Data technologies.
  • Interact with senior client technology leaders, understand their business goals, and deliver technology solutions.
  • Define and develop client‑specific best practices around data management within a Hadoop or cloud environment.
  • Recommend design alternatives for data ingestion, processing, and provisioning layers.
  • Demonstrate experience in enterprise‑grade solution implementations, BI, and data analytics databases.
  • Convert business challenges to technical solutions while considering security, performance, and scalability.
  • Knowledge of Big Data architecture patterns (Lambda, Kappa) and performance benchmarking enterprise applications.
  • Experience in data security (on the move, at rest).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10‑15 years of full‑time experience in data architecture/engineering.
  • 2‑4 years of experience directly managing technical teams.
  • At least 2 years working in the life sciences domains (Clinical (R&D) and Commercial), developing solutions for life sciences challenges.
  • Flexible and proactive/self‑motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task under pressure and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team player who enjoys working in a cooperative and collaborative team environment.
  • Adaptable to new technologies and standards.
