Agile Defense is an award-winning national security company looking for a Language Enabled Open Source Monitoring Specialist to support a federal law enforcement client’s Open Source Intelligence Program. The role focuses on detecting threats to specific people, locations, and events through open source monitoring, research, and analysis. Shift work will be required: 6am‑6:15pm or 6:15pm‑6am, 4 shifts on / 4 shifts off.

• Conduct open-source monitoring, research, and support for overseas personnel, domestic investigative offices, protection details, and external consumers.
• Perform research in the assigned language and determine the best public sources for relevant information.
• Provide high-quality translations to English, incorporating cultural, slang, and political context.
• Within one year, be able to conduct research at an Open Source Research Specialist I level in both target language and English.
• Communicate potential threats and relevant information clearly and concisely.
• Utilize specialized tools and advanced search techniques to identify potential threats.
• Create Boolean or other query-language algorithms for commercial and unclassified tools.
• Review incoming open‑source information to assess accuracy, credibility, validity, and relevance.
• Prepare preliminary referrals to other law enforcement, protection, or intelligence groups.
• Provide technical advice and guidance in planning and executing open‑source collection operations.
• Support large‑scale, multi‑national events domestically and abroad as available.
• Assist training teams in developing training modules.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely and summarize information.
• Knowledge of internet‑based research, including Boolean logic.
• Knowledge of machine‑language translation methods.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new software.
• Ability to establish liaison and interact effectively with individuals at all levels.

Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or at least 3 years of relevant experience without a degree. Relevant experience includes any position that required advanced online research or investigative techniques.

• Knowledge of popular and fringe social media platforms.
• Completed Open Source Intelligence or advanced internet research training course.
