SRE/Site Reliability, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations, Systems Engineer
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects that shape the future of ADC regions? Are you passionate about driving innovation, solving complex challenges, and making a tangible impact on operational reliability?
Region Reliability Engineering and Automation (RRE) is an operations team within AWS Utility Computing (UC) under US Region Services. The team ensures the reliability, operational health, and readiness of US Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) regions by automating operational workflows, hardening CI/CD pipelines, and bridging gaps across the platforms and tooling that support ADC environments.
As a Systems Development Engineer II embedded with an ADC Operations team, you will focus on these key areas:
Automating ADC Region Operations
Strategic Service Operations Improvements for US ADC Teams
Region Reliability Engineering and Automation
You will serve as a power user and integrator — deeply understanding how platforms work, identifying operational gaps, and building the automation, scripts, and infrastructure-as-code that keep dedicated cloud environments healthy, compliant, and scalable.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Key job responsibilitiesAs a Systems Development Engineer within Region Reliability Engineering and Automation, you will be at the forefront of delivering impactful automation and operational improvements that drive the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of ADC regions across multiple services and partitions.
Key Responsibilities for this position:Design, develop, and implement automation solutions that address complex operational challenges, reduce toil, and enhance the reliability and performance of ADC regions
Participate in the full project lifecycle, from ideation and scoping to implementation and deployment, with a focus on operational outcomes and measurable reliability improvements
Build and maintain automation, scripts, and infrastructure-as-code that bridge operational gaps across the platforms and tooling that support ADC environments
Harden and optimize CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting to improve deployment velocity and surface real operational issues faster
Collaborate with service teams and ADC Operations engineers to diagnose cross-partition issues and develop repeatable solutions that prevent recurrence
Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment across operations and engineering teams
Your typical day centers on the reliability and operational health of ADC's dedicated cloud environments. You might start by triaging an operational event or diagnosing a deployment failure across partitions, then shift to hardening a CI/CD pipeline, automating a repetitive workflow, or tuning alerting to surface real issues faster.
You're a power user and integrator. Your value comes from deeply understanding how those platforms work, identifying operational gaps, and building the automation, scripts, and infrastructure-as-code that bridge them.
You'll join a collaborative team of Systems Development Engineers and ADC Engineers who value knowledge sharing and mentorship. As an Sys De II, you'll help onboard new team members, share operational context, and coach less experienced engineers through pairing and incident response.
