Position: Senior Law Clerk Supporting the DEA

Senior Law Clerk

FSA Federal (FSA), in partnership with iHire, is recruiting a Senior Law Clerk to support the overall mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This mission‑driven position will work on legal research, writing, and analysis for domestic and international investigations, helping to remove criminal tools and support national security.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the attorney and review paralegal and clerk work.
  • Conduct expert legal research and write on sophisticated issues.
  • Review investigative reports, prepare summaries, and identify matters needing close department review.
  • Analyze facts, evidence, and legal authorities for investigations.
  • Create persuasive legal memoranda, motions, and briefs.
  • Draft reports, develop training curricula, and prepare responses to Congressional and citizen correspondence.
  • Draft comments on legislative proposals.
  • Prepare correspondence requiring government official signatures.
  • Coordinate with other support components to complete work requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bar certified with a law degree.
  • At least two years of post‑JD experience.
  • Experience conducting legal research using tools such as Lexis‑Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including legal writing.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other common software, including databases.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Eligibility

This position requires U.S. citizenship and a minimum continuous background investigation of 7 years (or 10 years).

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducts national and international investigations targeting drug trafficking networks and related terrorism. A key part of its mission is the Asset Forfeiture Program, which directs major investigative strategies and results in significant seizure and forfeiture.
