Mechanic, Assembly in Arlington

Job Description Job Description

Location: Arlington, WA (Vashon Aircraft)
Reports to: Shop Supervisor

At Vashon Aircraft, we don't build products that sit on shelves.
Our airplanes take off.

We're looking for a hands-on Aircraft Assembly Mechanic to join our team building the Vashon Ranger—a fun, modern, two-seat aircraft designed to get people into the sky. If you take pride in precision, enjoy working with your hands, and like the idea of seeing something you built actually fly, you might be exactly who we're looking for.

You'll be part of a collaborative production team bringing aircraft to life, including:

• Fabricating and installing sheet metal components (wing, tail, fuselage, control surfaces)
• Performing riveting and precision assembly work
• Assembling key aircraft systems including:
  • Fuel systems
  • Flight control systems
  • Landing gear
  • Doors and seating components
• Reading and following detailed assembly instructions and blueprints
• Using a wide range of hand tools and shop equipment
• Performing aircraft bodywork and small parts finishing
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace

• 1-2 years of sheet metal or aircraft assembly experience
• Riveting experience strongly
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Hands-on mechanical experience is highly valued - if you've spent time working on cars, motorcycles, or similar projects, many of those skills translate well to this role
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions accurately
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Solid communication skills in English
• A willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on environment
• High energy, reliability, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
• Must be 18+ with reliable transportation

We offer a strong benefits package and a workplace where your work has visible impact:

• 95% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
• 401(k) with 4% employer match
• 15 days PTO per year
• 10 paid holidays
• Partial tuition reimbursement

We're a small, focused team building something special. That means:

• Your work matters and you'll see the results of it every day
• You won't get lost in layers of management or buried in process
• People step in, help out, and take ownership
• Good ideas don't need a committee - they just need someone willing to speak up

If you're looking for a highly structured, large-scale production environment, this probably isn't the place. But if you like being close to the work, solving problems in real time, and being part of a team that actually builds something from the ground up - you'll fit right in.

Vashon Aircraft is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

There's something different about working on an airplane. Every rivet matters. Every system matters. And at the end of the day, you don't just step back and admire your work... you watch it leave the ground.
