Full-Time Veterinary Receptionist

Location: Shirlington Animal Hospital – Arlington, VA

About Us

Shirlington Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats. Our team takes pride in delivering excellent medical care while maintaining warm, welcoming client experiences. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Veterinary Receptionist to join our front desk team.

Position Overview

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our clients and play a key role in ensuring an exceptional experience from start to finish. This position requires excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills, as well as prior experience in a veterinary setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and patients with professionalism and warmth
  • Check clients in and out for appointments, surgeries, and tech appointments
  • Answer and direct calls using a multi-line telephone system
  • Schedule appointments and manage daily appointment flow
  • Accurately maintain and update client and patient medical records
  • Process payments and review invoices with clients
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and other team members
  • Provide information about hospital services and policies
  • Ensure the reception area remains tidy and welcoming
Qualifications
  • Veterinary receptionist experience required
  • Proficiency with Avimark software preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Compassionate and professional demeanor with both clients and pets
  • Reliable and team-oriented attitude
Schedule
  • Full-time position (Monday–Friday, with some Saturday rotation)
