This Store Director is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the store, ensuring high performance in sales, customer service, safety, and staff management.

Key Accountabilities
  • Overall management responsibility for a retail grocery store’s operations, including store performance, cash control, inventory and security.
  • Track, analyze and improve store performance, forecast sales goals, and ensure goals are met or exceeded.
  • Communicate sales goals and departmental performance to staff to drive results.
  • Forecast, schedule and monitor labor to align with sales and productivity, controlling costs.
  • Develop and execute strategies for product placement and promotional displays.
  • Maintain store appearance and in‑stock conditions for all products.
  • Oversee maintenance, cleanliness, safety and sanitation.
  • Manage cash and accounting, ensuring security and accurate handling.
  • Prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities, managing time and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and provide coaching for superior service.
  • Handle customer and employee complaints, making decisions to resolve them effectively.
  • Select, train, develop and manage store employees, recommending hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide constructive feedback and development opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with union officials and comply with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with peers, supervisors, suppliers and customers.
  • Motivate employees toward shared objectives, modeling positive attitudes.
  • Ensure proper staffing to meet sales and customer needs, proactively hiring as required.
  • Conduct interviews and decide on hiring candidates.
  • Train new hires on policies and procedures and evaluate performance during probation.
Knowledge And Experience
  • Education Level:
    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required;
      College degree preferred.
  • Experience Level:
    • Three years as a Store Manager in retail, hospitality, or a service industry, or five or more years in retail or managerial experience in an Assistant Manager capacity.
    • Retail grocery experience required.
Skills And Experiences
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; strong math and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service and supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of overall retail store operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to make quality decisions under time constraints.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Physical Environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Can lift, stack, and maneuver items up to 55 lbs.
  • May work at a desk or computer terminal for long periods.
  • May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, computers and other office equipment.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
  • Workday is fast paced; holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Pay Transparency

The pay range is $88,400 to $120,000 per year, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates vary by location, experience, qualifications and collective bargaining agreements.
