The Arlington Agricultural Research Station supports almost all disciplines in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. This position is responsible for all aspects of agricultural field operations including tillage, planting and harvest, fertilization, and manure handling related to crop and livestock operations on the Station. The position's primary responsibility is the application of crop protection products to crop research and cereal crops used for livestock feed.
The role also involves operating tandem axle trucks and other equipment related to transportation of equipment, materials, and supplies for the Station and College. All activities observe applicable AAALAC Standards and safety standards.
- Opens, loads, and unloads freight, operating vehicles over 26,000 lbs. to deliver and receive freight and inspects, loads, and unloads materials to ensure safe and efficient transport.
- Stages equipment and machines in preparation of agricultural activities.
- Maintains organization of designated facilities and associated supplies, notifying appropriate entities of damaged materials or the need for supply replenishment.
- Operates, cleans, and repairs basic and complex agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations.
- Documents completion of duties according to established policies and procedures.
- Applies pesticides in accordance with best practices and established rules, policies, and regulations.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $25.00–$27.00 per hour. Final salary depends on experience and qualifications. Required Qualifications- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural machinery (e.g., tractors, manure tankers, pesticide sprayers, front‑end loaders, skid steers) in an agricultural or similar research setting with quality and documentation standards.
- Experience using trucks to transport equipment, materials, supplies, or livestock.
- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural field crop sprayers and pesticide mixing/loading equipment.
- Experience conducting crop research, including field trials, data collection, and adherence to research protocols.
- Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Possession of a Commercial Applicators License.
H.S. Diploma Preferred
