You will lead a team of developers across the stack and will combine hands‑on skill in C#/.NET and Angular with deep Microsoft SQL Server and T‑SQL expertise. You will own technical direction across the full development lifecycle, mentor engineers, and work with stakeholders to deliver reliable, performant, maintainable systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack, back-end, front-end, and database developers
- Set coding standards, architecture guidelines, and best practices across the .NET, Angular, and SQL layers
- Run design, code reviews, and ensure quality in every deliverable
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, estimates, and work plans
- Make and document architectural decisions (ADRs) and manage technical debt
Application Development (.NET and Angular)
- Design and build back-end services using C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API, and Entity Framework Core or Dapper
- Guide the development of Angular front ends: component architecture, RxJS, state management (NgRx or similar), routing, forms, and performance
- Define API contracts (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger) and keep the front end and back end well integrated
- Apply authentication and authorization (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, Azure AD/Entra ) and secure coding practices
- Choose sensibly between ORM-generated queries and hand‑written stored procedures
Database Development (SQL Server)
- Design and optimize schemas, indexes, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Write and tune complex Transact‑SQL (CTEs, window functions, MERGE, dynamic SQL, transactions, error handling)
- Apply set theory (joins, unions, intersections, differences, relational algebra) to replace row‑by‑row (cursor/RBAR) logic with set‑based solutions
- Diagnose performance issues using execution plans, DMVs, and Query Store. Review and tune EF Core‑generated SQL
- Ensure data integrity, security, and concurrency control (isolation levels, locking, deadlocks)
Development Lifecycle
- Own delivery across the SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, release, and support
- Manage source control (Git), branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub Actions) covering .NET, Angular, and database code (SSDT, EF migrations, Flyway, or Liquibase)
- Define a test strategy: unit tests (xUnit/NUnit, Jasmine/Jest, tSQLt), integration, end‑to‑end (Cypress or Playwright), and performance tests
- Manage releases, environments, deployments, and rollback plans
- Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and risk management in an Agile environment
Operations & Collaboration
- Work with DBAs and Dev Ops on backup/recovery, high availability, monitoring, and capacity planning
- Support ETL/reporting needs (SSIS, SSRS, Power BI) where required
- Communicate with product owners, architects, QA, and business stakeholders
- Maintain technical documentation and onboarding materials
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust, via VA background investigation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) with additional relevant experience…
