Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: Northern Ireland
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 + Overtime
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
We’re working with a well-established specialist engineering business that supplies, installs and maintains Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) for customers across a wide range of industries.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Field Service Engineer to their team, covering customers throughout the region with occasional wider UK travel.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who enjoys fault-finding, working independently and dealing directly with customers.
The RoleAs a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of sophisticated automated storage systems at customer sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out inspections and preventative maintenance on automated storage systems
- Completing annual servicing and routine maintenance
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults
- Responding to breakdowns and providing effective technical support
- Supporting system upgrades and software updates
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Providing customers with technical support and product guidance
- Completing service reports and documentation accurately
- Managing your own diary, travel and workload
- Building strong relationships with customers and representing the business professionally
- Developing specialist knowledge of ASRS equipment and technology
We're interested in speaking with Engineers from a range of backgrounds, particularly multi-skilled, with strong electrical and mechanical capabilities.
You should be:
- Hands‑on and technically minded
- Confident with fault‑finding and problem‑solving
- Comfortable working independently at customer sites
- Customer‑focused with good communication skills
- Organised and able to manage your own workload
- Proactive and willing to learn specialist equipment
- Professional and presentable
- Able to travel throughout the region
- A full UK driving licence holder
Experience with automated storage, materials handling, industrial machinery, automation or similar equipment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
What matters most is having the right engineering fundamentals, a practical approach and the willingness to learn.

Despite being a field‑based position, this role offers an excellent work‑life balance.
Overnight stays are very rare, and weekend work is also very rare, with the normal working pattern being Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
There may occasionally be additional travel, weekend work or overnight stays to meet customer requirements, but these are the exception rather than the norm.
