Full time – 37.5 hours per week (includes some late working until 7pm and weekends on a roster basis).

Location:

Queens Hospital, Burton, Burton-on-Trent.

Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 pro rata per annum (yearly).

Job overview

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist – either a Band 5 seeking progression or an experienced Band 6 – to join our forward-thinking Occupational Therapy Medicine Team.

You will work with patients presenting with a range of complex needs throughout their acute hospital stay, providing skilled assessment, treatment and interventions, and supporting the multidisciplinary team with specialist advice.

As a Band 6 therapist you will also support and develop Band 5 therapists, supervise therapy support staff, and educate therapy students on placement.

Expect to work in a 7‑day extended hours service and participate in quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

The role is a static post providing advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex and chronic conditions. You will:

  • Deliver specialist skills to enable patients to maximise independence and quality of life in activities of daily living, personal care, domestic, leisure and productive activities.
  • Work flexibly in a 7‑day service, providing Occupational Therapy services across the Trust.
  • Travel to other sites and complete environmental/home visits as required (full clean driving licence required).
  • Take part in 7‑day extended hours service.
Person Specification Ability to practice
  • Degree or equivalent in OT
  • HCPC registered
  • Leadership course attended
Experience
  • Demonstrated postgraduate experience in a hospital setting.
  • Evidence of acute experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing learning postgraduate/CPD.
  • Formal postgraduate courses completed.
  • APPLE accredited / evidence of student support.
  • Evidence of working in community hospital setting.
