CNC Lathe Setter / Operator | Richhill, County Armagh | Full Time | £28,000 – £32,000 per annum

Our client is a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering company based in Richhill, County Armagh. They specialise in precision engineering and component manufacture for a range of industries. As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setter / Operator to join their precision engineering team.

Are you the right person for the job?
  • Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Setter / Operator
  • Strong competence in operating Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes
  • Knowledge of driven tooling and single-spindle fixed head lathe technology
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and machining instructions
  • Solid understanding of machining tolerances and surface finishes
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring and inspection tools (micrometres, verniers, gauges)
  • An engineering apprenticeship or relevant mechanical engineering qualification (preferred)
  • Experience with twin-spindle CNC lathes and sliding head (Swiss-type) lathes is desirable (exposure to Mitsubishi controls would be an advantage, but not essential)
  • Familiar with automation, including robotic and bar-fed systems
  • Keen attitude toward 5S and lean manufacturing principles
What will your role look like?
  • Setting and operating CNC lathes – fixed head (Fanuc control) and sliding head (Mitsubishi control)
  • Producing precision components to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Conducting first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment
  • Performing tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, tolerances, and machining symbols
  • Monitoring machine performance and assisting in problem-solving to minimise downtime
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards and following health & safety regulations
  • Working as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines
