Assistant Production Manager - Poultry Hatchery -£36,000 - £39,000 - County Armagh, Northern Ireland
Working Pattern:2-week rotating shift
The Job:
Our client is an established business operating within the poultry and agricultural sector and is seeking an Assistant Production Manager Poultry Hatchery to support the day to day running of a busy commercial hatchery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production, poultry, livestock or agricultural professional looking to develop their management experience within a specialist production environment. Working closely with the Hatchery Manager, you will help ensure the operation runs efficiently, safely and to consistently high standards, while supporting and developing the production team.
Key responsibilities:- Supporting the day to day management of hatchery production, from egg handling and incubation through to chick dispatch
- Supervising, motivating and developing members of the production team
- Ensuring high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and biosecurity are maintained
- Monitoring production performance and maintaining accurate operational records
- Coordinating the movement and transportation of eggs and chicks
- Assisting with vehicle scheduling and maintenance requirements
- Supporting the operation, maintenance and servicing of hatchery equipment
- Identifying production issues and taking a proactive approach to resolving problems
- Working closely with the Hatchery Manager to improve efficiency and maintain production standards
- Providing out-of-hours and weekend support as part of an on call rota
- Previous experience within a poultry, agricultural, livestock or production environment
- Experience supervising or managing people
- Good organisational, communication and computer skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Good mechanical understanding, with experience operating or maintaining production machinery and equipment
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a full driving licence and relevant qualification/experience advantageous
The position operates on a two-week rotating shift pattern:
- Week 1:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 60 hours - Week 2:
Wednesday and Thursday - 24 hours
Working hours:
6:00am - 6:00pm
The role will also involve participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including nights and weekends.
The Package:- Salary £36,000 - £39,000 DOE
- All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
