The Role Lead the site Technical function and act as the principal contact for food safety, quality and compliance matters. Maintain and continuously improve the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Ensure compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, customer standards and relevant food safety legislation. Lead and support customer, regulatory and third-party audits. Ensure all audit actions and non-conformances are investigated and closed within agreed timescales.
Manage customer complaints, root cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions. Maintain site audit readiness across Production, Hygiene, Engineering and Technical functions. Oversee internal audit programmes, traceability exercises and mock recalls. Monitor quality performance, analyse trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Work closely with Production, NPD, Hygiene, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to maintain product safety and quality. Support new product launches, process changes and technical validations.
Lead, coach and develop members of the Technical and Quality teams. Promote a positive food safety and quality culture across the site. Ensure technical records, specifications and documentation remain accurate and up to date. Provide technical guidance to senior management and operational teams.
The Person Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Quality Manager or senior technical leadership role within food manufacturing. Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, GMP and food safety legislation. Proven experience managing customer, certification and regulatory audits. Experience leading root cause investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Confident working cross-functionally with Production, Hygiene, Engineering and NPD teams. Food Science, Food Technology or related qualification would be advantageous. Available to commit to a 12-month fixed-term contract. The Reward Salary up to £50,000, depending on experience. 12-month maternity cover contract.
