Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will gain exposure to a wide range of HSE activities while helping to drive compliance, continuous improvement, and a positive safety culture across multiple sites.
This is a hands-on operational role suited to someone who enjoys being visible on site, engaging with teams, and making a real impact on workplace safety. You will support day-to-day Health & Safety activities across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards, and best practice while contributing to the ongoing development of HSE systems and your new role:
Support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
Lead and coordinate internal Health & Safety audits, inspections, and behavioural safety initiatives
Develop and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and Health & Safety training to employees and contractors
Work closely with operational teams and management to promote a positive safety culture
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across Health & Safety systems, processes, and site standards
Support external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities
Manage Health & Safety onboarding and induction processes for new starters and contractors
Maintain training records and competency matrices across operational teams
Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of integrated management systems
Monitor compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures across multiple sites
What you'll need to succeed:
Experience with in a similar Health & Safety roleNEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Understanding of Health & Safety compliance and risk management principles
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Full UK driving licence
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
Experience with in recycling, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environments
Additional Health & Safety qualifications
Experience delivering training, toolbox talks, and inductions
Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
Experience supporting continuous improvement and behavioural safety initiatives
