About The Role

The Compliance and HSE Coordinator will help maintain regulatory compliance, promote a positive health, safety, wellbeing and environmental culture, and keep management systems effective and up to date. Working closely with management and operational teams, you will lead compliance activities, maintain HSE documentation, coordinate audits and inspections, monitor corrective actions, and provide guidance on legislative and company requirements.

This permanent part-time position, working 2 days per week, is ideal for an experienced HSE professional seeking a flexible role where they can provide practical, hands-on support to the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Include

Health & Safety

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Health & Safety Management System.

  • Conduct workplace inspections and risk assessments.

  • Review and update safe systems of work, policies and procedures.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.

  • Track and report HSE performance metrics and KPIs.

  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning.

  • Promote a positive safety culture through engagement with teams and management.

Compliance Management

  • Maintain the company's compliance register and monitor legislative changes.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation and industry standards.

  • Coordinate internal audits and support external audits or inspections.

  • Monitor completion of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Maintain records required for regulatory compliance.

  • Support certification requirements associated with ISO standards where applicable.

Environmental Compliance

  • Assist in monitoring environmental obligations.

  • Maintain waste management and environmental records.

  • Support initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability performance.

  • Ensure environmental incidents are investigated and documented.

Training and Awareness

  • Coordinate HSE induction and compliance training activities.

  • Maintain training records and competency matrices.

  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.

  • Promote awareness of company policies and legal obligations.

  • Support the training and development of team members across the business to promote high standards and process improvements.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain HSE documentation and document control systems.

  • Prepare monthly compliance and HSE reports.

  • Support management reviews and continuous improvement activities.

  • Ensure policies, procedures and risk assessments remain current and effective.

  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the role and the needs of the organisation to support and maintain effective service delivery.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and detail-focused, with the knowledge and confidence to support legal and regulatory compliance across the business. They will help ensure audit findings and corrective actions are closed promptly, HSE documentation remains current and compliant, and safety, wellbeing and environmental awareness are promoted across all departments. They will also provide concise, accurate compliance reporting to management and contribute to the continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental performance.

Essential Criteria

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent HSE qualification) or currently working towards.

  • Relevant Health & Safety experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial or construction environment.

  • Strong understanding of UK and Northern Ireland HSE legislation.
