DC Circuit Breaker Expert

At Octagon Professionals, we are supporting a global technology leader in the energy sector to find a DC Circuit Breaker Expert for their European R&D Center in Arnhem. This is a highly specialised, senior-level role, ideal for someone who enjoys bridging innovation with practical application.

About the role
You will play a central role in developing MV/HV DC circuit breakers—leading the process from research through to product level. The position involves close collaboration with universities, research institutes, and in-house engineering teams across Europe.

Key responsibilities include

Leading the design and development of MV/HV DC circuit breakers

Applying electromagnetic simulation techniques to improve design (e.g. Thomson coil actuators)

Contributing to system-level architecture and performance improvements

Securing and applying insights from partnerships with European research institutions

Designing measurement techniques for circuit breaker testing

What we’re looking for

Experience in developing DC circuit breakers at the MV/HV level

Solid background in system architecture and topology

Hands-on knowledge of simulation and testing methods

Comfortable working with academic and industry stakeholders

Fluency in English

Based in or willing to relocate to the Netherlands
