Job Description & How to Apply Below
In this exciting position as Grid Planning and Analysis Specialist, you will provide specialised knowledge and skills in a specific area of expertise to drive innovation and support successful execution of projects, initiatives, innovations and/or daily operations. You are responsible for recognizing bottlenecks in the grid, initiating next steps and defining solutions for the mitigation of capacity constraints. This way you will contribute to keeping the energy system solid and viable.
Are you ready to make an impact?
Jouw rol The energy transition requires a smart, reliable, robust, affordable and future-proof development of our grid. Therefore, it is key to have a continuously updated understanding of how the electricity grid will evolve and where future limitations and opportunities are emerging. As a Grid Planning & Analysing Specialist within the team of Grid Solutions in the division Design, you play a key role in translating complex system analyses, together with our stakeholders, into a coherent view of future grid development.
You directly contribute to TenneT's strategic goals such as security of supply, sustainability, and strengthening our infrastructure. In this role, you are responsible for recognizing bottlenecks in the grid, initiating next steps and defining solutions for the mitigation of capacity constraints. These (non) grid solutions are developed for all time horizons (0-5y, 5-15y and 15-25y), aligning with all developments as included in the investment plan, grid visions, target grid and policies.
With your experience of complex system analysis, high voltage grid knowledge and problem solving capabilities, you ensure that the future grid development enables the transport of electricity meeting all requirements with regard to grid security and stability.
Impact and purpose of the role
As a Grid Planning & Analysing Specialist, you operate at the heart of strategic grid development and provide the analytical foundation for future grid investments and system development decisions. Drawing on your knowledge and experience you are able to perform integrated grid planning analyses and grid performance studies and bring the outcome together with congestion assessments, scenario development, asset strategies, and both regional and national energy developments.
By combining these insights, you develop and maintain a coherent view of future grid developments and translate complex technical analyses into clear grid visions, planning perspectives, and investment recommendations. You work closely with stakeholders across Design, Operate, Onshore, (local) authorities and DSO's to ensure that network development strategies are based on a consistent understanding of future capacity needs and system constraints.
To support well-founded decision-making, you – together with the multidisciplinary teams within Design – identify which analyses and studies are required, assess and interpret their outcomes, and translate the results into actionable insights for the grid. Where necessary, you balance different perspectives, address uncertainties, and provide recommendations on the most effective development pathways for the electricity grid.
Throughout the planning cycle, you monitor whether changes in demand, generation, congestion risks, system developments, and investment plans remain aligned with the assumptions underlying the grid vision and strategic plans. You support multidisciplinary teams within Design by providing analytical expertise, validating assumptions, and ensuring consistency between long-term scenarios, congestion insights and network development plans.
In doing so, you play a key role in shaping a reliable, robust, and future-proof electricity grid and contribute directly to TenneT's strategic objectives of security of supply, enabling the energy transition, and delivering efficient infrastructure investments.
