Position Summary:

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), located near historic Annapolis, Maryland, has served a diverse community for over 60 years through high-quality, affordable, and accessible learning.

AACC is a fully accredited, public two-year college offering degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways. This tenure‑track position requires regular on-campus presence, with flexible teaching schedules available.

Contract Dates:
August 16, 2026 – June 15, 2027

Teaching Formats:
Day, evening, weekend, in person, hybrid, and online

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching introductory and upper college‑level nursing students in Critical Care and Medical Surgical Nursing.
  • Telehealth and in‑state travel to affiliate clinical sites.
  • Utilizing multiple instructional strategies and technology in teaching and learning.
  • Engaging in student‑centered, outcomes‑based education.
  • Participating in committee work within the department, school of health sciences, and the college.
  • Maintaining excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Managing a full‑time faculty load of 15 hours per semester across lectures (online or in person), labs, simulation, and activity classes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms – including face‑to‑face, online or hybrid instruction and instruction at off‑site locations depending on student need.
  • Six office hours per week during the fall and spring terms, which may include student advising and mentoring.
  • Teaching and assessing student learning.
  • Professional development.

  • Commitment to working days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Additional areas of commitment and experience (in addition to the above responsibilities):

  • Mentoring students from target groups and new faculty.
  • Designing, formatting, and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities.
  • Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community.
  • Devising retention strategies and activities.
  • Establishing and strengthening relationships with clinical partners and community organizations.
  • Required Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in nursing.
    • Minimum of two years of current nursing experience in Critical Care and/or Medical Surgical Nursing.
    • One year of teaching and curriculum experience.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
    • Current Registered Nurse license.
    • CPR certification.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in nursing education.
    • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and team‑based environments.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD) or a related field.
    • Certification in a nursing specialty (e.g., CNE, FNP‑BC, CNE‑cl, CCRN).
    • Demonstrated excellence in classroom, clinical, or online teaching at the collegiate level.
    • Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, and accreditation processes.
    • Familiarity with simulation‑based and technology‑enhanced teaching methods.
    • Evidence of student mentorship, advising, or supervision of clinical experiences.
    • Proficiency with learning management systems.
