Work Mode: Regular in-person presence on campus and at alternative locations.
Work Schedule: Flexible; days, evenings, weekends.
Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in the Nursing Assistant field, following the curriculum outline and learning expectations. Content is housed in Canvas, an online learning platform. Instructors must have computer experience, expertise in nursing, and classroom management skills. Prior teaching experience is not required. Instructors will adhere to Anne Arundel Community College’s Adjunct Faculty Instructional policies and the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) policies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare materials needed for instruction, labs, and supplies.
- Provide basic lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools.
- Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
- Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, patient safety, and infection control.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, faculty, and staff.
- Submit grades, attendance, reports, and records in a timely manner.
- Evaluate student performance in classroom, skills lab, and clinical environments.
- Prepare students to sit for the Nursing Assistant Certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
- Maryland Registered Nurse (BSN preferred).
- 2 years nursing experience.
- 1 year caring for the elderly/chronically ill within the past 5 years (long‑term care experience).
- 2 years teaching experience or completion of the Principles of Adult Education (“Train the Trainer”) course (minimum 16 hours).
- Prior experience teaching CNA (preferred).
- Registered Nurse with supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
