Position SummaryThe Gender & Sexuality Studies (GSS) and Interdisciplinary Studies (ISS) department is currently building a pool of qualified part‑time faculty to support our academic courses and programs. Part‑Time Instructors are a member of the academic team committed to advancing high‑quality, equity‑minded education at Anne Arundel Community College. Part‑Time Instructors will be responsible for the delivery of engaging and inclusive educational content in courses such as Introduction to African American Studies, Introduction to American Studies, and Gender & Sexuality Studies.
Instructors will facilitate thoughtful discussion, support student learning, and promote critical inquiry across interdisciplinary themes including identity, culture, power, social structures, and lived experience. Candidates will be contacted as needed, each semester, based on student enrollment numbers and program requirements.
The pay range for this position is $3,510 to $3,789 per course.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Master’s degree in the discipline being taught (Gender & Sexuality Studies, African American Studies, American Studies, or a closely related field).
- Demonstrated academic or professional background in at least one of the following:
Gender & Sexuality Studies, African American Studies, American Studies/Interdisciplinary Studies. - Ability to facilitate respectful, inclusive discussions on complex and sensitive topics.
- Basic technology proficiency, including use of Canvas, email, and digital instructional tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Teaching experience at the college or university level (online and/or in person).
- Experience working with diverse student populations and applying equity‑minded instructional practices.
- Availability for daytime, face‑to‑face instructional formats.
