Community Interpreting Instructor
Location: Arnold/Main Campus, Arundel Mills (and Hanover, MD).
Hours: Part‑time, evenings.
Compensation: $50 per class meeting hour.
The English Language Learning program is seeking part‑time instructors to teach in our Community Interpreter Certificate program (see https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). Instructors will teach WLS‑325 and WLS‑326 (Foundations of Community Interpreting Parts 1 &
2). Candidates must be available for evening classes in Arnold or Hanover, MD. Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to give a short teaching demonstration. Please mention your schedule availability and location preferences in your cover letter.
Instructors are responsible for teaching the courses, assessing and recording student progress and attendance, meeting required deadlines for submitting grades and other administrative tasks, and participating in department professional learning events.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Language proficiency in at least two languages (ACTFL Advanced High or above, or equivalent)
- 40‑hour community interpreter “Train the Trainer” course, to be completed before or prior to June 30; department funds will cover the training cost
- Professional simultaneous and/or sequential interpreting experience
- Adult education or teaching experience in both face‑to‑face and online formats
