Job DescriptionLocate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area complies with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
The technician will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers. Technicians may work independently or in a team environment under an assigned supervisor. The role requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools. Grid Hawk LLC is an equal opportunity employer. - Accurately locate underground facilities using transmitters and other equipment.
- Work in and over all types of terrain in construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route tasks.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
- Perform all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while effectively communicating with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
- Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Maintain knowledge of technology and tools needed.
- Work collaboratively in a supervised team environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Experience with vacuum trucks (A+).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
- Pass DOT drug test.
