The Stein-Arnold Exploration Fund from The British Academy supports researchers working on the antiquities or historical geography or early history or arts of those parts of Asia which come within the sphere of the ancient civilisations of India, China, and Iran, including Central Asia.

Applications close on January 7, 2026.

What is funded

The Fund provides up to 3,500 GBP.

Duration

Awards are tenable for up to 24 months.

Applicants must be British or Hungarian subjects. Applicants should be of postdoctoral status or have comparable experience. Applications are not accepted from postgraduate students.
