Are you looking for a new challenge and to be part of a vibrant Environmental Health team that contributes to the Council's corporate purpose of 'Serving People and Improving lives'? We need an enthusiastic officer to become part of our Food, Health and Housing Team to help ensure landlords and agents comply with landlord legislation.
Responsibilities- Investigating reports of harassment and illegal evictions along with other new tenancy related offences introduced by the Renters Rights Act 2025.
- Providing advice to landlords to assist in compliance with their legal obligations and, where necessary, taking enforcement action, including preparing civil penalty notices and prosecution files.
- Assisting with the private sector housing functions of the service and assessing properties for hazards and taking necessary steps to ensure compliance.
- Processing and issuing selective licenses and providing cover to other parts of the wider service.
- Knowledge of private sector housing enforcement methods, legislation, regulation and codes of practice is essential.
- Knowledge of issuing licences in private sector housing is desirable.
- Full‑time post suitable for experienced officers or graduates seeking Local Authority experience.
The salary is career graded offering progression for relevant experience and qualifications.
