Overview
This is an opportunity for an experienced Maternity Support Worker to join the Specialist Midwifery Team. We provide care to vulnerable and complex pregnant women; complexities include teenagers, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health, homelessness and vulnerable pregnant migrants. The role is split between the Teenage Team (currently based in Old Basford) and the Specialist Midwifery Team (currently based in Arnold).
Responsibilities- Provide antenatal and postnatal parent education.
- Work with women and families to provide essential practical and emotional support throughout their perinatal journey.
- Facilitate discussions around choices of care and gain consent for any procedures offered.
- Provide holistic support to the women on the team's caseload.
- Health promotion to support a healthy pregnancy, postnatal period and newborn baby.
- Parent education, particularly around infant feeding and safe sleeping.
- Infant feeding support.
- Understand safeguarding procedures and escalating when appropriate.
- Work with other health professionals, interpreters and external agencies.
- Undertake clinical skills such as venepuncture, blood pressure measurement, weighing babies, newborn bloodspot testing and S testing.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Proactive team player able to work flexibly.
- Passion for caring for birthing people with complex and vulnerable needs.
- Non-judgemental attitude.
- Car driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Ability to work flexibly across Nottinghamshire according to service needs.
The role is based in the Teenage Team (Old Basford) and the Specialist Midwifery Team (Arnold), both serving the community in Nottinghamshire.
