Special Education Teacher Mild/Mod, Mod/Sev, Multiple Sites
Lucia Mar Unified School District is hiring a Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction for students with mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities in K-12 settings for the school year. The position will be assigned to an additional site within the district, determined by district staffing needs.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized instruction for students with disabilities, ensuring alignment with IEP goals and district standards.
- Employ research‑based instructional strategies and assistive technology to support student academic and functional growth.
- Collaborate with the child study team, related service personnel, parents, and instructional staff to develop and implement IEP plans, team meetings, and progress monitoring.
- Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations, maintaining accurate documentation and reports.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents, providing guidance, progress updates, and addressing concerns.
- Adhere to state regulations, district policies, and IEP due process requirements, ensuring compliance and ethical practice.
- Participate in professional development, faculty committees, and district programs to support continuous improvement and student success.
- Valid California teaching credential with an authorization to teach special education in a mild/moderate setting.
- Valid CLAD/BCLAD/EL Authorization (Emergency permits not accepted).
- Valid added Autism authorization (or equivalent).
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or related field.
- Prior teaching experience in a special education setting preferred.
- Knowledge of IEP processes, state special education regulations, and data‑based instruction.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Annual salary placement: $60,544 – $100,773 (full‑time, 1.0 FTE) based on credentials, experience, and master’s units. Benefits include standard district health benefits, a 401(k) matching program, and professional development opportunities.
