Position Overview

Social Science Teacher for Middle / High School (Grades 7-12) for the  school year.

Requirements
  • Credential
    :
    Valid California teaching credential with an authorization to teach Social Science in grades 7-12 in a departmentalized setting.
  • Authorization
    : CLAD/BCLAD/EL (Emergency permits are not accepted).
  • Education
    : A Bachelor's Degree, including all courses and/or exams needed to meet credentialing and subject‑matter competency.
  • Experience
    :
    As mandated by the state and accepted by the school district.
  • Personal Qualities
    :
    Resourceful, innovative, helpful, diligent, persistent, and a willingness to work with colleagues and students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Driver’s License
    :
    Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Experience
    :
    Prior teaching experience.
Salary & Benefits

Work Days: 184 days, 1.0 FTE (Probationary Position) up to 184 days, 1.0 FTE (Temporary Position). Annual entry‑level salary range: $60,544 – $100,773 for a full‑time position. Salary prorated based on start date, FTE, and prior experience.

Job Description

The Social Studies Teacher plans, administers, and evaluates the social studies instructional program in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional:

  • Teach social studies and incorporate language skills, writing skills, and critical learning procedures.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state laws and district policies.
  • Develop clear lesson plans and identify instructional materials.
  • Select, design, and organize objectives, strategies, and materials, incorporating research findings.
  • Provide individualized and small‑group instruction as needed to adapt the curriculum to each pupil.
  • Determine appropriate pace and explain material to students and parents; differentiate instruction as needed.
  • Maintain classroom behavior standards and create a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth, keep records, prepare progress reports, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Use data to improve learning and instruction processes.
  • Create a learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong skills.
  • Show competence and confidence with new technology and applications.
  • Student Management:

  • Create positive mentoring relationships with students and colleagues.
