Work Days: 191 days (Student days only) - 191 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday through Friday, 6.5 hours/day, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Salary:
Ranges 16 & 18, salary placement from $18.71 to $25.13 hourly + 2% bilingual stipend
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.

Job TitleBILINGUAL INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
Salary Range16 – None or a limited number of units OR completion of 15 semester units of a varied academic program OR completion of 30 semester units of a varied academic program, 15 of which must be education courses or related subjects.
18 – An AA Degree (60 semester units or more, 30 of which must be education courses or related subjects) or 60 units of education courses.
Under general supervision, to assist teachers with instructional duties with special emphasis on Limited or non‑English Proficient (LEP) students and related work as required.
Qualifications- High school graduation or its equivalent.
- Experience in youth activities.
- Must pass basic high school and bilingual competency tests.
- Ability to speak and write effectively in both English and Spanish; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work effectively with young people; work independently on own initiative; establish and maintain cooperative relationships; work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
- Desirable:
Knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of students.
- Tutor students, individually or in groups, in prescribed subject matter under direction of certificated staff.
- Administer and correct teacher‑prepared tests.
- Monitor on‑campus student activities as assigned under the guidance and direction of an administrative staff member.
- Support teacher(s) in clerical duties, such as photocopying and record‑keeping as assigned.
- May set up and use audiovisual equipment and computers to assist students.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand and circulate.
- May require the ability to ascend or descend steps.
- Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
- Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop.
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to reach in all directions.
- Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate audiovisual equipment and computers.
