Position: Radiology Scheduler (25-390)

Radiology Scheduler (25-390) – Artesia General Hospital

This position schedules patients for diagnostic tests as ordered by referring physicians, collecting and confirming patient demographics and insurance information, and ensuring accurate entry into the department’s scheduling system. The Scheduler communicates preparation instructions, coordinates appointment changes, manages communications with ancillary departments and physicians, and uses information technology to improve efficiency. This role also assists in training new employees and maintains a positive attitude toward problem solving.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic tests as ordered by referring physician.
  • Collect and confirm patient demographics and insurance information, entering data accurately into the scheduling system.
  • Ensure each patient knows the correct preparation for their scan or procedure and the correct time to arrive.
  • Coordinate changes in appointments by cancelling and re‑scheduling as necessary.
  • Maintain an open, professional demeanor and communication with ancillary departments and physicians.
  • Answer telephone as needed and relay messages to appropriate individuals.
  • Maintain the fax drive, mail, emails, and online bookings to ensure all appointments are scheduled timely.
  • Make the most effective and efficient use of developments in information technology for patient care and administrative support.
  • Assist in training and development of new employees; remain open to learning opportunities and adaptable to change.
  • Display a positive attitude and discuss decisions or policies in a constructive, problem‑solving manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Be willing to cross‑train within other areas of the hospital if necessary.
  • Cross training may include the position of reception or insurance verification.

  • Exhibit high level of customer and patient relation skills.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Interact with all hospital departments.
  • Have high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative, including writing clear and concise English.
  • Have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Have good keyboard skills.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience using computers.
  • Previous medical experience is favorable.
Environmental Conditions

Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids.
