Patient Access Representative; PRN

Overview

Patient Access Representative (PRN) (23-137) role at Artesia General Hospital. Primarily responsible for providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of hospital admissions and outpatient services.

• Interview patients to obtain insurance benefits, proof of coverage and pre-certification/authorization for inpatients, surgical patients, and required outpatients.
• Register outpatients and prepare proper documentation for outpatient procedures where applicable.
• Process inpatient admissions and prepare proper documentation for services where applicable.
• Accept patient payments and record appropriately.
• Greet and assist patients and visitors in a manner consistent with Hospital customer service guidelines.
• Advise patients regarding insurance coverage and estimate patient’s responsibility.
• Inform patients of available sources of assistance from outside public and private agencies or refer the patient to a financial counselor.
• Obtain verification of insurance coverage and benefits payable from insurance companies or other third-party payers.
