Medical Assistant

Job Summary: Under the direction of a RN/LPN or practitioner, performs basic patient care activities.

Essential Functions:

• Obtain and document patient vitals.
• Perform bedside testing.
• Perform basic nursing procedures such as oral care, perineal/foley care, non-sterile soaks, or thermal applications.
• Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.
• Clean and store equipment.
• Maintain supply inventory and re‑stock as required.
• Perform basic clerical duties as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• As assigned.

Knowledge / Skill / Ability:

• Knowledge of basic nursing and patient care.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent; plus specialized, short‑term training in basic patient care.
• Work Experience – Clinic setting preferred.
• Training – Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training required.
• License/Certification – Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred.

Environmental Conditions: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids.
