Job Summary
Applies to the Role Players with Security Clearance position at Applied Training Solutions in Artesia, NM. The role is part‑time, on‑call, supporting the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Role players create realistic law enforcement training scenarios in direct support of professional instructors, participating in dynamic exercises such as protection missions, escalation/de‑escalation, surveillance, arrest situations, witness interviews, subject interrogations, and blank‑firing weapon exercises.
Responsibilities- Assist in providing realistic scenarios where students and law enforcement entities can apply investigative and law enforcement skills taught at FLETC.
- Live and adapt to the role and respond to how each student handles the situation, ensuring immediacy and realism.
- Thoroughly understand training objectives and assigned role, adjusting to outcomes and reacting appropriately.
- Improvise as needed to align with the scenario, instructor guidance, and overall training goals.
- Participate in scheduled scenarios Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, with additional training after 10:00 PM on weeknights or weekends as required.
- Work is not scheduled on holidays or during governmental closures such as emergencies, administrative closings, or facility shutdowns.
- Support year‑round scenarios at FLETC, often in varying weather conditions.
- Be managed and coordinated by a Site Supervisor (SS) and Assistant Supervisor (AS).
- Assist in creating a weekly shift and scenario schedule based on availability.
- Speak English or Spanish at an eighth‑grade level or higher; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Meet FLETC security requirements and successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service orientation, teamwork focus, and safety emphasis.
- Hold a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and prior driving experience; pass a driver safety skills test.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedures manuals.
- Stand and walk for a minimum of 60‑minute intervals.
- Carry up to 20 pounds of training props during this time.
- Run up to 100 yards in certain training scenarios.
- Be handcuffed and searched in various positions (standing, kneeling, prone, walking backwards on knees).
- Use safety equipment provided by the government during training exercises.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or training environments.
- Prior role player experience.
- Experience with FBI, Federal Marshall, ATF, Customs & Border Patrol, State or local law enforcement, ICE, Coast Guard, or Texas Rangers is a plus.
